Quick and Simple Ways to Decorate a Christmas Tree
Admin Admin December 20, 2022

During the holidays, the Christmas tree is the most crucial thing in the house. Here are some easy and inexpensive ways to make yours stand out.

Choose a Theme or Set of Colors For your Tree

First of all, you need to decide on a theme. You can decorate for Christmas with one theme so that everything goes together. You can also go from room to room. Some people have more than one tree, each with a different theme. If you have different themes in other parts of your home, ensure everything goes together.

Some themes for Christmas trees:

  • Country or Rustic Christmas
  • Traditional Christmas
  • Christmas can be silver, gold, or a mix of the two
  • White Christmas
  • Natural Christmas (green and brown)
  • Blue Christmas
  • Modern or Glam (color combinations can vary)

Coming Up with a Theme for your Christmas Tree

Your theme can be just the colors you've chosen, or you can select the mood or style first and then choose the colors that will show that style.

It's not a science to decorate. It's a skill. So, you make it up, just like any other art. It comes from the way you think. Keep that in mind, and you'll have fun without worrying about breaking any rules. Every idea that comes next is just that: an idea. You can do whatever you want in the end.

Then I wondered what that would mean for Christmas. I thought of tartan, a lot of it. I thought of plaid, red, antiques, rustic, natural things like pinecones, and farmhouse details.

Let's Put Your Christmas Tree

So, it's time to bow once the lights are on. Bows are easy to make and don't cost much money. You can make bows with two, three, or even four different kinds of ribbon. It would be best if you used all your colors in the bows you choose.

I suggest getting a wired ribbon. Most of the time, they cost a little more, but they are worth it. You can make these ribbons into beautiful shapes, and when you take them out of storage year after year, they still look great.

Unexpected Elements of a Christmas Tree

You have to think outside the box to make a beautiful Christmas tree. Aside from making your Christmas tree look great, these things can often be cheaper than traditional ornaments. For example, I thought about what items I already had that fit with farmhouse, rustic, or country decor.

I thought of two things. I already had a lot of pine cones and cotton stems. I used wire cutters to cut my cotton stems into small pieces to add to the tree. I suggest going to the floral aisle instead of the Christmas aisle to find festive floral stems that add colors and mood to the tree.

How to Decorate Your Christmas Tree in 3 Easy Steps

No matter what you choose for your Christmas tree, here are the most important things to keep in mind:

1. Cut your flower stems, so they don't all stick together.

2. Next, cluster your elements, don't scatter or sprinkle.

3. Put them around your Christmas tree in diamond shapes.

How to Set Up Christmas Decorations

Here are some general rules to follow when putting Christmas decorations on your tree:

1. Don't hang decorations with long strings. Instead, put a hook at the bottom and tie it to the tree. The trick is to make it look like the ornament is growing out of the branch. It's such a big change for the better.

2. Use the same ornaments over and over to make your tree look complete.

3. String three ornaments together with craft wire and hang them on the Christmas tree as a group.

4. Make sure your color scheme is fully shown in your trio bunch.

Have fun adding unique elements to your tree. I put pine cones and cotton stems all over the tree to give it a rustic, farmhouse look.
